Second Conversation on Race: Race in the Legal Community

Jan 19, 2021

11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Virtual

This is the second of three Conversations on Race that the Coalition will hold, this one examining Race in the Legal Community. Joining us on January 19 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. will be Michelle Silverthorn, who has traveled the country over the last six months talking about what it feels like to be a lawyer of color in a predominantly White legal world and what actions we can commit to as individuals to create a more inclusive work environment. Please bring your questions for an open and honest discussion of race in the legal community.

Silverthorn is the Founder and CEO of Inclusion Nation, and a graduate of Princeton and the University of Michigan Law School. She practiced in two large law firms in Chicago and New York before transitioning to her current work.

Introducing Silverthorn and joining her in the discussion portion of the program will be Jason Hazlewood, recently named Managing Partner of the Pittsburgh Reed Smith office. In addition to his role of office Managing Partner, Hazlewood is a partner in the firm’s Global Commercial Disputes Group. He concentrates his practice on complex commercial and financial services litigation.
