A Year of Change: Where Diversity Efforts Stand Now & Where We Go From Here

Jan 26, 2026

1:30-3 p.m.

The legal and organizational landscape surrounding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) is evolving rapidly. Landmark court decisions, shifting federal directives, and changing workplace expectations have created both challenges and opportunities. In this moment of transformation, many in the legal community have turned to NYU School of Law’s Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, led by Professor Kenji Yoshino and Professor David Glasgow, for trusted insight and leadership.

Join us for a timely and energizing conversation with Professor Yoshino and David Glasgow as they share key ideas from their forthcoming book, How Equality Wins. Drawing from their legal expertise and extensive work with Fortune 500 companies and nonprofits, they will offer a fresh vision for advancing fairness in the workplace—one that is both legally sound and deeply inclusive.

Attendees will walk away with:

  • A clear understanding of recent DEIB-related legal and policy developments
  • Practical, research-backed strategies for applying these insights within legal organizations
  • Inspiration and actionable ideas for continuing to drive equality in a rapidly changing environment

Following the moderated discussion, participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers during a live Q&A session.

CLE credit will be available in several jurisdictions. A recording of the program will be accessible for two weeks following the event. CLE credit may not be available for watching the recording.

We strongly encourage senior leaders and legal professionals from our member organizations to attend. All employees of member organizations are welcome to register for this important and forward-looking session.

This event is a joint collaboration between the following organizations:

  • Boston Lawyers Group
  • Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms
  • Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law
  • Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession
  • Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition
  • Twin Cities Diversity in Practice

For almost two years, these six organizations have been coming together as a “Coalition of Coalitions” to build momentum for a more inclusive future: one conversation, one initiative, and one partnership at a time. As a vibrant, nationwide alliance of nonprofit organizations committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the legal profession, each organization brings a distinct regional or demographic perspective but are united by a shared mission: to build a legal community where everyone has the opportunity to succeed and thrive. Driving meaningful change requires more than isolated efforts; it demands collaboration across cities, states, and sectors. By working together, these groups are able to leverage their collective expertise, networks, and passion in order to move the profession forward in bold and lasting ways.
