The PLDIC is excited to provide our members with a unique opportunity to volunteer with the Collaborative for Immigrant Impact (CII) Pro Bono Project. The CII Pro Bono Project is designed to train volunteer attorneys in various areas of immigration law so they can provide high-quality pro bono legal services to immigrant communities.
Over the next two years, the CII’s goal is to:
- Train 150 volunteer attorneys in immigration law; and
- Provide pro bono legal assistance to 1,000 community members through our network of trained volunteers.
Attorneys are needed to help our neighbors with a variety of legal issues including:
- Bond Representation
- Change of Venue Motions
- Green Card Applications (Adjustment of Status)
- Family-Based Relief
- Employment Authorization Document (EAD) Applications
- Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
PLDIC partner Casa San Jose offers volunteer orientations every two weeks. If you are interested in being a volunteer, either contact CSJ at legaltr@casasanjose.org or sign up for an orientation on the Training Calendar. The orientation is called “CII Pro Bono Project Orientation” and takes about 45 minutes.
Additionally, all CII partner organizations have trainings listed on the calendar – you can register directly for a training and check out the descriptions. Volunteers can attend as many trainings as they would like.
